Grab 12-15 of your closest friends and snatch onto one of our featured private classes on this month’s calendar. Our private classes will let you and your best pals loosen up with some herbaceous cocktails (and then some!) while learning to put healthy twists on dishes to gear up for the warmer season to come. What could be better than putting a little elbow grease into some Spaghetti and Meatballs from Scratch, sipping on Chianti and chitchatting with only the best company around? Every class listed below is available this March for $500 per class, good for up to 15 people (that is more than 50% in savings!!)

Friday March 9th- Curry It Up with Bollywood Cocktails

Making a good, fresh curry from scratch sometimes seems too daunting a task, with most fearing the project would foil rather than flourish. With this class, we hope to turn that all around! Contrary to popular belief, making fresh curries is actually a very simple and relaxing process, adding a dimension of depth to so many unexpected dishes! There are red and green curries, exotic Arabic style curries, curries with coconut and curries so hot your tongue will burn up. They are made by pounding or grinding together herbs, chilies and spices to create a base for a list of wonderful and fragrant sauces and additives to meats and soups and salads. In tonight’s class we’ll be focusing on using your gardens or farmer’s markets fresh ingredients to make Thai style fresh curries. This is the perfect time of year to add fresh chilies to heat up your cooking! We’ll teach you basic know how that you can use to simplify the process of making curries so it’s not so intimidating and overwhelming. Once you take this class, the days of calling for Thai take-out will be left in the dust while you hit the ground running toward a pantry full of spices and herbs to curry up your life! you” sip on Nissa’s Bollywood Cocktails with your friends as we Curry it Up!

Monday March 12th- (6:30-9:00 pm) The Winter Herbal Kitchen with Frozen Cranberry-Rosemary Gin & Tonics

True it is still winter, yet for many of us we still want to keep our cooking healthy and somewhat light. What better way to add flavor to our winter cooking with its abundance of seasonal, fresh herbs. For those of us who don’t know much when it comes to fresh herbs and may be a bit intimidated by the task of choosing and storage and using—this is the class for you. We will learn the basics of all the fresh herbs, focusing on winter herbs, from growing to handling, to selecting, to storage, along with tips for using them in your daily meals. We’ll show you how to dry, pound and freeze these guys as well so that waste not want not again becomes your motto. We’ll work together to prepare a comforting light winter menu that showcases the season’s most prime herbs: Rosemary, Sage, Thyme, and Winter Savory to name a few. You will become and herbal expert in no time while our own herb expert Nissa, helps you learn to bring out the flavors of any dish or beverage, creating zestier and tastier recipes to brighten your winter menu and spirits. The ideas are endless and the uses are bountiful, so stop and think about what you can use that bunch of herbs for before you let it wilt away in your refrigerator and worse yet, decide to throw out. Take a load off and learn to listen to what these herbs are saying while we talk about them too!

Monday March 19th- (6:30-9:00 pm) Spaghetti and Meatballs from Scratch with Chianti

Whether or not your Italian all of us have been comforted at some point with big plate of spaghetti & meatballs. In this class we take comfort a step further and make the dough. There is an innate, visceral pleasure in playing with dough as well as a strong connection that comes from making something as elemental as pasta from scratch, this process is therapeutic and thus giving us great comfort. If you haven’t tried making your own pasta before, perhaps it’s because you don’t have the time; or you don’t have the counter space in your tiny New York City apartment kitchen; or you’ve simply been seduced by the convenience of store bought pasta. All of these are valid reasons… but not good excuses. In this class, Spaghetti & Meatballs (From Scratch), you’ll have the time, the space and the supervision you need to let out your inner Italian! You’ll use natural and fresh ingredients as you learn to mix and knead the dough, roll it into sheets and then you will learn to use modern kitchen gadgets as we run it through the pasta machine to create authentic spaghetti (and maybe some linguini). We will also as usual demonstrate cutting pasta old school style. You’ll also learn the secret to making homey Italian meatballs and sauce. These simple red and white sauces round out the recipes and bring everything together. You will leave knowledgeable and comforted and loopy on chianti!

Friday March 23rd- (6:30-9:00 pm) Candyland, A Natural Candy Making Class with Sweet Chocolate Coriander Halva Elixir

We’ll be fashioning a veritable candy wonderland that satisfies each and every sweet tooth using completely natural, seasonal and local ingredients! Candy has received a bad rep in the last few decades since the industrialization of food, but not all candy and sweets are created equally! This class aims to bring you and all your friends sweetly together showing healthy ways to indulge your sweet tooth with natural sugars and sweets that will thoroughly tantalize your tastebuds! In this class, we’ll teach all of you to tap into your inner Willy Wonkas using local, seasonal and organic fresh herbs, spices, and fruits that will leave an utterly satisfied smile on your face- without the added factor of guilt. Whisk through this end of winter indoors bonding with your own private class over some delicious treats. Your friends will think you’re cool and thank you for letting them satisfying their gnawing desire for sweets, and you’ll feel better knowing it’s good healthy ingredients that makes that lollipop so delicious! And even better is you get to to sip on Nissa’s Sweet Chocolate Coriander Halva Elixer!

Sunday March 25th- (2:30-5:00 pm) Pretzels, Mustard & Beer

Pretzels, mustard, and beer, one of the best trios in food today provide us with the hearty brawn we so often crave during the end of the cold, winter months. Mature, masculine snacks such as the pretzel require equally rugged pairings perfected in the spicy, delicacy of mustard and the hoppy decadence of beer. In this class, we’ll divulge the history of pretzels, mustard, and beer while enjoying artisanal beer crafted locally while developing your new knowledge and skills. We’ll be making a wide range of different pretzels from sweet to spicy and all sorts of mustards to accompany these varied saveurs to satisfy all. You’ll gain hands-on experience using the ingredients that make up pretzels and mustard, get your hands busy twisting dough, and explore the many different ways to liven up traditional pretzels and mustards. Come do “the twist” as we devour our chewy salty snacks good enough to fuel you for world domination (Beer from Bierkraft)!

Monday March 26th- (6:30-9:00 pm) Doughnuts, Sweet & Simple with Sweet Herbal Mimosas

Who doesn’t like donuts? Even better, who doesn’t love easy donut recipes? With easy recipes to follow and fool-proof methods you’ll be whipping up some of the tastiest and most soothing baked goods to help keep the family warm in the dead of winter. We will demonstrate how to flavor the dough with simple tips, how to decorate concoctions with style as to impress even the most advanced Krispy Kreme enthusiast, all while using the most seasonal and healthy ingredients we can. These normal everyday recipes will be doctored up by good healthy and hearty whole grains, nuts, and seeds, while remaining flavor friendly! So pack up your appetite and come on over off for an end of winter evening of baking & sweetening with a healthy emphasis! Sip on Sweet Herbal Mimosas while you cook with friends!
