We here at Ger-Nis are so excited about our new friends Just Food, a non-profit organization that connects communities and local farms with the resources and support they need to make fresh, locally grown food accessible to all New Yorkers. Once a month on Monday nights throughout the summer and fall seasons, we’ll be hosting a cooking series with Just Food that focuses on educating the entire family on how to eat locally for a more sustainable future. Led by the amazing instructors at Just Food and our own Nissa Pierson, these classes will incorporate some of the most current topics that families are dealing with, from an increase in food allergies to homemade baby food, all using local, seasonal ingredients to help support New York farms and communities! For the first class in the series, Andrea Beaman, a Top Chef alum, will show us how to cook delicious and healthy meals without emptying your wallet. You’ll be amazed how you can incorporate local ingredients to create an array of dishes for even the pickiest of eaters in your family without spending a ton of money. Whether you’re a single, couple or have a home full of children, this class will offer an informative and practical guide to making the most of your trip to the market. Come learn with Ger-Nis and Just Food how to treat your family to a delicious and healthy way of living!
