We here at Ger-Nis are so excited about our new friends Just Food, a non-profit organization that connects communities and local farms with the resources and support they need to make fresh, locally grown food accessible to all New Yorkers. Once a month on Monday nights throughout the summer and fall seasons, we’ll be hosting a cooking series with Just Food that focuses on educating the entire family on how to eat locally for a more sustainable future. Led by the amazing instructors at Just Food and our own Nissa Pierson, these classes will incorporate some of the most current topics that families are dealing with, from an increase in food allergies to homemade baby food, all using local, seasonal ingredients to help support New York farms and communities! In the Better School Lunches class, we won’t be going Jamie Oliver-style rogue into schools, but we will certainly inspire you to vote with your brown paper bag. Simple and delicious recipes and techniques will elevate your fresh, affordable and tasty ingredients to appease even the most stubborn Lunchables enthusiast. Not just for kids, and not just for picky eaters, this class will show you once again that eating well is not a feat, but a pleasure.
