Oktoberfest is a 16–18 day festival held annually in Germany, running from late September to the first weekend in October. It is one of the most famous events in Germany and is the world’s largest fair, with more than 5 million people attending every year. The festival is all about beer with beer being the only alcoholic beverage allowed to be brewed and served during the festival. So even all the way across the pond we can celebrate this gloriously beer infamous festival right here at the Ger-Nis Culinary & Herb Center and as usual highlighting the best the season has to offer us up. This Oktoberfest, rather than hiking to destinations few, far beyond or overcrowded German bars in the city, join us here, after all, it’s in season to design your celebration at a local establishment that knows what’s good for you. In this class, you’ll hone in on your best Oktoberfest preparation skills, discovering the glory that is preparing hearty German, yet not overbearing meals that will allow everyone to have fun at the event. You’ll be rewarded by Oktoberfest beer, of course, but divined by the magic of assembling the tastiest, most seasonal components available into festival-worthy fare. Come learn more about local German culture through its flavors, preparing condiments, meats, sweets and kraut with the best of them!
