Kids love lemonade as much as we do, but something they love even more is their own lemonade stand! Summertime is the perfect time for lemonade stands and kinder-cooks are the perfect age to begin to develop the entrepreneurial skills needed for success in life and their very own lemonade stands! With this in mind, we’ve come up with a fun, educational and hands on class for our neighborhood kinder-cooks. They’ll learn the ABC’s of creating their own lemonade stand, including the basics of making lemonade and the skills needed to set up and run their own stands. We start with the basics of recipe creating, covering the different types of lemons and the endless options of adding more flavor by using fresh fruit and other herbal additions. We will cover safety tips & stranger danger knowledge as well as simple advertising tips to ensure the prosperity of the kinder-cooks summer lemonade stand! This class will cover the basic skills and strategies that every child needs to set up his or her own summer lemonade stand – starting with delicious lemonade and ending with big smiles! We will cover all the marketing buzzwords like local, organic and sustainable that will get their profits soaring! Added value will be forever on their minds. The kinder-cooks will leave with the skills needed to make their own signature lemonade and the marketing materials required to set up their first stand! Profit and loss and pricing and margin talk will abound your dinner table after this class! They will leave thirsty only for their summer business ventures they are sure to start.

Children get to create a lemon stand right after class at MaMas Cafe during their big summer “yard sale”, half of the proceeds get donated to MaMas Café and the kids in the class spilt the rest! *Kids can bring their own lemony baked goods to sell at the lemonade stand as well, profits as split!

Nissa Pierson, Managing Director of Ger-Nis Culinary & Herb Center, approaches life head-on, believing that whatever one does in life one should do at full capacity. This cat proves that an active curiosity actually just makes you better prepared for the many things life throws at you. This curious approach led her to tending giant basil fields in the California landscape which turned into selling herbs on massive scales for others which turned into selling herbs on massive scales for herself and their growers which, in turn, gave birth to the center we know and love today. Nissa is a self-taught cook, employing truly tried-and-true techniques not found in so many other places, lending a deliciously, unique quality to every dish she prepares. She is a big fan of riding the waves, horses and maybe roller coasters, too.
